It’s the last week of October and the ladybugs are everywhere. It is a common occurrence during the fall; especially when the government officials have released more ladybugs to feed on the aphids. Ladybugs are not poisonous to humans. Ladybugs do good by eating aphids. So what is the problem?
They are everywhere! But do not worry. They are a menace and they are everywhere. What can you do? Here are 5 ways to deal with them.
1) Vacuum them up. A shop vac will allow you to scoop up a large number of them quickly. You can then take them else where and let them free. Or use a regular vacuum with a bag. When removing the bag from your vacuum remember something to cover the whole.
2) Mouthwash. Mix equal parts mouth wash and water and spray on windows and entry ways. This will discourage them from crawling into your home. But, this doesn’t stop them from flying in.
3) Wash them away. It is only temporary but it does reduce the possibility of them coming inside. Get your garden hose and spray down the areas of your home that have the most ladybugs hanging out.
4) Seal cracks and gaps. It is time to check your windows and siding for cracks anyway. What a great excuse to get the weatherproofing done before it gets too cold or rainy. Seal gaps and repair holes that would allow ladybugs to nest or crawl in.
5) Call Absolute Pest Control. Although the lady bugs will be gone soon, if you are having an infestation that you can’t stand, we can help you. Call us for an appointment and we will take care of any pest problem you may have.
